Sheffield Hallam University-IPROW postgraduate course
- recruiting NOW for the last time!
In February we ran a brief survey to assess the value and future of the postgraduate course in rights of way and countryside access management which was developed by IPROW with Sheffield Hallam University.
The results of the survey from past students of the course were resoundingly positive about the its value and benefits to their personal and professional development with several reports of gaining employment in the profession as a result or a significant career boost.
There were also many members who would have liked to undertake the course but were too limited by constraints on time or finance. Sadly IPROW is unable to provide bursaries or to further subsidise the course (membership is not wide enough for fees too cover much!) to facilitate those wishing to undertake it.
Unfortunately, although IPROW is more than aware of the value of the course, the number of past and potential students cannot justify its continuation with the changes demanded of universities by the current government, so with great sadness Sheffield Hallam is forced to withdraw the course after the next academic year. New entrants will be admitted in September 2012 and possibly in January 2013 but then it will close to new entrants. Closure to registration WILL NOT affect those already registered on the course and the quality of the course and commitment of the university, the associate lecturers (all IPROW members) and IPROW will continue to the end of any student's course.
IPROW and students of the course are extremely grateful to Sheffield Hallam University for fighting to continue the course for so long despite very low numbers of students and would like to give thanks to the IPROW members who dedicated so much time and energy to setting up the course and to being its associate lecturers.
If undertaking the course - whether as independent modules or at postgraduate certificate, diploma or MSc level - has been your intention, don't miss your chance. Do it now! Visit the course pages at Sheffield Hallam website and read the views of past students in the IPROW members' area under Professional Development/Postgraduate study.
