The Good Practice Guide
See contents/categories menu or List of All Articles (don't forget to scroll down!) or use the search tool on the left. NB some categories are archives.
The Guide is currently undergoing a review courtesy of funding from Natural England. If you are aware of any significant changes to content that are needed, or if you have sought information and found it missing or inadequate, then please let us know so these items can be added to the schedule of work. Equally, if you have material that provides guidance on practice, this would be welcome.
Caution!
The Guide is a collection of articles and examples of practice that was compiled as a reference resource for professional rights of way and access practitioners. It is no longer maintained.
It does not attempt to answer every question, nor to be a complete statement of the law or its interpretation. It includes information on legal procedures but ultimately only the Courts may interpret the law. The law is apt to change without warning and the content of any page may be out of date and/or incomplete. You should bear this in mind at all times.
The Guide is open to anyone but assumes a professional level of knowledge. If your knowledge is limited, be aware that much of the content is open to interpretation and be cautious in your use of it. The Guide is not a manual, nor is it a substitute for professional advice tailored to specific situations. You should not rely directly upon it.
Linked documents dated 2000 are from the original Guide and may be superseded by other material in the Guide.
Local circumstances vary and not all the material will apply throughout the country.
